Scanlation | Editing Part 2

HOW TO edit for a scanlation group (basics) part 2:

This is a step by step guide on the very basics of being an editor for a scanlation group.

4. leveling the image

You should always level your images, its basic 101 of editing. Your aim is to make the whites white, and the blacks black. This will also make cleaning easier.

Here I will show the most professional way to level your images.

In the “Layers” window click on the half filled circle option and select “Levels…” see below

This adds a leveling layer to the drawing which means you can adjust the levels over and over without having to apply anything to the actual image.

Adjust the levels to your preference, normally something like below.

Sometimes it is also necessary to add a “Curves…” layer.

Same as before, click on the half filled circle in the “layers” window and select “Curves…”

Adjust the curve to your preference, normally something like below.

I like to zoom into a bubble on my image and adjust it till all the whites are white.

You should now have a perfectly leveled image ready to be cleaned.
